Blaze a Trail Below the Rim
Enjoy unobstructed views as you ride to your first destination in our open-air Pink® Jeep® Wrangler. You’ll stop at Yavapai Point for your first view of the Grand Canyon. Here, the rocks are eroded away on a large scale to reveal layers created by eons of sediment. From the overlook, you’ll notice Phantom Ranch, along with South Kaibab and Bright Angel trails. Your guide, who is certified as both an Interpretive Guide and Wilderness First Responder, will regale you with the tales and history of Phantom Ranch; the only lodging below the rim that can be reached exclusively on foot or by river.
The next experience will take you back in time at Grand Canyon Village. This historic district was once a stop for stagecoaches and remains a busy hub today. The village is home to El Tovar and Hopi House, both opened in 1905. Your guide will dive into the rich histories and architectural importance of these structures, which remain largely unchanged. Extraordinary views surround you as you stand where pioneers walked centuries ago.
Take a drive to Hermits Rest with scenic views at every turn. The area and its buildings are named for a Canadian prospector who sculpted a trail into the side of the canyon and later lived in isolation near Dripping Springs.
Now it’s time to hop out of the Jeep and explore The Hermits Trail. This exclusive area features fewer crowds because it is unavailable to the general public. Your guide will lead you down the trail for a fun hike below the rim on a rocky, unmaintained path to view the wonders below. Together you’ll find real marine fossil beds and learn about the canyon’s geology. You’ll also view the Hermit Rapids and other landmarks, such as the long-abandoned Hermit Camp. Your guide will point out these sites and explain how they tie the past to the present. The hike is 1 mile roundtrip. Later, peruse snacks and gifts at Hermits Rest.
After you’ve enjoyed the vibrant past of the landmarks and buildings, you’ll be able to see Grand Canyon: The Hidden Secrets. This timeless IMAX film presents history lessons about the explorers of yesteryear and explores wild canyon locations where few people have tread.
Admissions fees and IMAX movie tickets are included in the price of your tour. However, it does not include re-admission to the park after your tour concludes.

Great. Enjoyable educational and entertaining.
Great views of the canyon, going where the general public doesn’t typically get to, our guide- Chris Myers - was wonderfully engaging and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience, a great family memory we will have forever!

Outstanding, informative, and very enjoyable!
Abel was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what he does. He was very giving of information that was beyond the scope of his job, but pertained to out interests. A job well done.
All my feedback is related to the fact that the website leads a person to think that the jeep will go offroad, when in reality, we barely left the pavement. Our guide was great, but the use of the jeep itself was purely for imagery, and in my opinion, blatantly misleading.
Mona (Nancy), 2018
it was great. a good introduction to the canyon
